Whether its the varieties of grapes used in the winemaking process, the geographical region, or just the number of wineries involved, no two wine trails are the same. There is no better example of the latter than the difference between the Montgomery County Wine Trail and the other Pennsylvania wine trails. Unlike its counterparts, the official Montgomery County trail only has THREE wineries! The website still lists 4, but unfortunately according to the Country Creek Facebook page they permanently closed at the end of 2023. Luckily there are a few other wineries in the area to round out a full wine tour.

Highlighted Wineries

You’d think that since I’ve lived in Philly for a few years now, I’d have ventured out into the surrounding counties for wine already. But I’ve only just begun my exploration into what Montgomery County wineries have to offer and these are my favorites so far!

Karamoor Estate Vineyard and Winery

6118 Butler Pike, Blue Bell, PA

I’m honestly a little surprised that Karamoor isn’t part of the official Wine Trail, because the outdoor space and wines are so great. There is plenty of room to relax and enjoy a glass of wine, or many. The one downside? The tasting was expensive compared to most others I’ve done, at $25/person for 5 wines. They did give us a few small samples of others we wanted to try before buying bottles.

Stone & Key Cellars

57 E Butler Ave, Ambler, PA

Unlike the other wineries on this list, Stone & Key are an “urban” winery and cidery. Meaning they source grapes and apples from other regions and then make their wine and cider on site. They even have what they call a “Barrel Program”, a hands-on experience where you can make a barrel of wine!

When it comes to the tastings, you have the option to choose from either a cider or wine flight. Feeling a bit more adventurous? There is also a fun Sommelier Challenge where you try to guess which 4 wines you were given. Stone & Key are a part of the official Montgomery County wine trail.

Other Highly Rated Area Wineries

If you’re looking to create a full wine tour itinerary (personally I like to visit at least 3 or 4 in a day), below I’ve included other area wineries that I haven’t yet visited but have reviews that look promising!

A’Dello Vineyard and Winery

Website – 21 Simmons Rd, Perkiomenville, PA
A’Dello is another one of the official Montgomery County wine trail wineries. While the winery doesn’t do traditional tastings, they do offer a $12 flight with 5 wines of your choice. The wine selection includes a little bit of everything, from reds to whites to fruit wines.

Cardinal Hollow Winery

Website – 1830 W Point Pike, West Point, PA
Cardinal Hollow is the last on the official wine trail. The main winery is in West Point (Lansdale), but they also have tasting rooms in Benton, Perkasie, and the Castle Inn. They are best known for their specialty wines, Jalapeno and Tequila, as well as Whiskey Mead. Reservations are required for their tastings, which are $10 for a flight of 5 wines.

Evansburg Vineyards

Website – 3857 Germantown Pike, Collegeville, PA
Evansburg Vineyards is run by a husband and wife team on a former horse farm. They’re a relatively newer winery, having bottled their first wine in 2021! Whether you prefer white, red, rose, or fruit wine, either carbonated or still, they have something for everyone. On Saturdays they hold guided tours, or you can choose 4 wines in the tasting room for their $12 flight.

Pinnacle Ridge Winery

Website – 34 Susquehanna Ave, Lansdale, PA
Technically Pinnacle Ridge makes all of their wine in York County, but they opened a tasting room in Montgomery County in 2023. Keep in mind if you’re planning to visit that their website says they don’t cater to groups in limos, buses, or passenger vans (which I assume means they would turn these groups away). For $10 you can try up to seven different wines.
