Where to Stay in Stuttgart, Germany

There are so many different things that can factor into where you choose to stay on vacation. Is it a special occasion that calls for a bit of a splurge on a luxury hotel? Is public transportation non-existent, making being close to downtown is a must? What is most important always changes. For our trip to Stuttgart, Germany, the proximity of the hotel to the two car museums (Mercedes-Benz and Porsche) was ultimately the deciding factor. Below you’ll find the pros and cons of where we chose to stay, as well as the other hotels we had also considered during the planning process.

Where We Stayed

Wolframstraße 27, 70191 Stuttgart

There were two main reasons we chose this hotel: a) Jasper is a Hilton member and we used points to bring the price down, and b) it is located right next to a U-Bahn station, giving us easy access to both the city center to the south and the car museums to the north/east. We’ve been to Hilton properties a million times, so we knew what to expect for the most part.

Positives:
  • Hilton Honors discount rate.
  • Budapester Platz U-Bahn stop directly outside of the building.
  • Closer to a typical American-sized room.
  • Kettle and instant coffee in room.
  • Breakfast included in price.
  • Multi-lingual staff.
  • Free bag storage on arrival/departure days.
  • Rail yard views – perfect for train lovers.
Negatives:
  • Not a ton to do in the immediate vicinity besides a shopping mall.
  • Only one elevator was working, so getting down from the 7th floor took a while.
  • A/C didn’t work the greatest.
  • No restaurant on site, only a bar and vending machines.
  • No laundry or room service.
  • Limited number of parking spots.

Negatives:

  • Slightly more expensive than the Hampton by Hilton location.
  • Farther from Stuttgart city center (25-30 min via public transportation).
  • Breakfast not included in room price.
  • Online photos make rooms look a little basic/dated.
  • Negative online reviews for air conditioning not working properly.

Arnulf-Klett-Platz 7, 70173 Stuttgart

Positives:

  • Proximity to main train station – directly across the street.
