Will Travel for Coffee: Vol. 2

Welcome back to a new installment of Will Travel for Coffee! Next up on my coffee shop review tour: Rowhome Coffee in Philadelphia and ‘Feine Coffee in nearby Conshohocken.

As a refresher, you won’t be getting stars or number ratings from me. I feel like the reliability of review scores can be pretty hit or miss, and are totally subjective thanks to differing tastes. So here you’ll find things like an overview of the vibes, my thoughts on whatever I ordered, recommendations/tips, and overall if I liked the coffee shop or not!

Over the last month we focused on knocking out some home reno projects we’d been putting off, which kept my coffee shop excursions somewhat local this time around. It’s finally starting to warm up here in the Northeast, which hopefully means more daytrips and coffee in other locations in the near future.

Now this isn’t a new spot I tried, but one I go back to all the time. Its on my list of favorite places to eat/drink in Philly for a reason! Check out that list here. They have two locations, but I’ve only been to the one in Fitler Square. The best thing about Rowhome isn’t the coffee, but their breakfast sandwiches. Nothing against the coffee though! They serve La Colombe, a Philly staple and one of my favorites, so obviously I have no complaints. Instead of a bagel, english muffin, or croissant, Rowhome makes their sandwiches using Philly pretzels as the bun!

I somehow always forget that caramel isn’t an option and try to order it anyway without looking at the menu. So instead I get a vanilla cappuccino, iced or hot depending on how I’m feeling that day. This area is very dog friendly, so don’t be surprised if you see a few dogs come through the shop while waiting for your breakfast. If its nice out, I recommend taking a walk through the neighborhood or the nearby Schuylkill River Park.

‘Feine Coffee

Entrance of 'Feine Coffee

We made a pitstop at this little coffee shop on our way through Conshohocken one Saturday morning. The front is a little cramped, which explains why you’ll see “one way” signs on the floor. After grabbing your coffee, you can make your way to one of the small back rooms with tables. The exit is through the back, where you’ll find a patio area with a lot more seating. We didn’t have any trouble finding street parking out front, but it looked like they have additional parking spaces in the back as well.

I switched it up a little with my order this time around, as they had freshly baked pastries and coffee specials I couldn’t pass up. I got an iced oat milk crème brulée latte (delicious) and a funfetti scone, while Jasper ordered an oat milk hot chocolate and a peach cobbler muffin. The scone was a perfect little sweet treat, but Jasper said his muffin was a little dry.
