My Travel Bucket List – International Edition

Originally published January 26, 2024 | Last updated November 20, 2025

Have you ever accomplished a years-long dream, and then suddenly realize that now you actually need to come up with a new one? Welcome to the club! After ringing in 2024, it was that time of year again: take a moment to reflect on everything I experienced in 2023, decide what changes to make for 2024, and update my plans for the future. It was during this process that I discovered I never really came up with a travel bucket list after finally taking my dream trip to Florence in 2022.

“But Allison, you went to Greece in 2023, what do you mean you didn’t have a plan?” That’s certainly true, I traveled to Greece in late September/early October and it was beautiful. But that was a bucket list trip for my mom, not me!. Surprisingly Greece hadn’t really been on my radar before that. For our 2024 trip, my husband chose the destination – Germany.

After so many years of never leaving the US, it was as if my brain couldn’t comprehend the fact that traveling abroad could become a yearly occurrence. And as a result, I needed to start laying the groundwork for the future. This of course sent me down a rabbit hole researching places around the world that I’d love to see.

Obviously, this is by no means an all inclusive travel bucket list. I’m sure I’ve forgotten quite a few locations! I plan to cross places off as I visit them and add more as I go, so make sure to check back every now and then for updates!

Really, Munich? There are so many nicer spots to visit! Even just nearby in Baveria, you’d enjoy Nuremberg a lot more… 🙂

As a beer lover, it’s mainly from wanting to experience Oktoberfest at least once! I’ve actually got plans in the works to visit a few cities in Germany later this year…including Frankfurt! 🙂
